What an extraordinary drawing! This fabulously detailed work from the late 1970s depicts a family making flatbreads in their home oven. Notice the fine detail -- such as the kerosene lamp in the upper left portion of the painting and the laundry hanging on the line -- that help locate the oven in a domestic environment. Given the quantities of breads being made, we'd guess that they are either being made for a celebration, like a wedding, or the family has a small side business as a bakery.
